E18 - The Gap in Senior Housing: A Case Study with Interdisciplinary and Community Partnership Solutions
The gap in senior housing is a national crisis, and housing options that serve evolving needs are extremely limited. Subsidized housing programs serve one end of the market, for-profit developers serve the other, and unfortunately, most of the need is in the middle. Through the perspective of a designer/builder/developer, and an executive director of a “Village” community, we can identify real strategies. The national “Village” movement suggests innovative solutions for better accommodating social engagement opportunities in more densely populated communities.
