E33 - Culture Change Household Model: Lessons Learned in Louisiana
In 2014, CommCare Corp. opened Rivière de Soleil in Louisiana, a first-of-its-kind household model with a 130-bed skilled nursing care residence. The prototype vision continues to evolve in response to balancing the influences of operational and physical environmental performance with training, reimbursement, and other financial parameters. Culture change is an iterative challenge, and a renewed strategic alignment of planning and design principles are guiding a series of new household skilled nursing care residences. Key principles thrive, including front doors at each home, kitchens at the hearth, staff at the residence, resident beds in quiet clusters, neighborhood commons within reach, and inviting community amenities and open spaces.
