A01 - AIA-DFA Student Design Challenge - Aging, Architecture, and Urban Life in 2070

Fifty years from now, will urban life as we now know it evolve into a new and supportive age friendly community?

Explore the future of urban design and architecture where intergenerational and technologically advanced communities accommodate members of the boomer generation, generations X and Y, and people of all subsequent generations. What forms are likely to change and what aspects are not?

Join senior architecture students from the University of Utah, College of Architecture and Planning, as they envision THEIR lives in the year 2070. Our point of departure will focus on the World Health Organization's (WHO) current framework and guidelines.

Faculty members Brenda Scheer (a leading thinker in the evolution of urban form) will guide the students in this challenge with the support of Dr. Keith Diaz Moore, AIA, WELL AP, Dean of the College of Architecture and Planning.
